"Senior Portraits VS Class Pictures" | Gretchen Elaine Photography Senior Portraits

What’s the difference between senior portraits and class pictures? Isn’t that the same thing?

I have been asked this many times by seniors and their families so here is the answer!

Senior portraits and class pictures are two completely different things.

Class pictures are the mundane portraits you have to do (sometimes) to be able to have your photo in the yearbook. Some schools allow you to find your own photographer and submit your favorite portrait for the year book, unfortunately I wasn’t so lucky at my school. In my past experience, the school class pictures did not really show case who I was as a person, they were stiff awkward poses with no genuine emotion. I was never a fan of my own portraits and therefore never ordered prints after the class picture day.

Senior Portraits sessions with Gretchen Elaine Photography are so different, fun, and truly about you as the person you are. All of my senior portrait sessions are 100% customizable. From choosing outfits, hairstyles, locations, and backgrounds. With guidance from myself, you get to choose the perfect session that represents you and your interests/style. Some seniors enjoy more simple sessions and others love changing outfits and looks. I strive to make your senior portrait session one you will never forget.

It is so important to document the person you are as a high school senior because it is a life changing milestone and you will have the portraits to look back on for years to come. If you or someone you know is an upcoming senior, please reach out and send me a message so we can chat on the details on how to create your own amazing session!
